Environmental Audit and Managment System

As well as our services in renewable power and event production, Firefly also offers the event industry a professional environmental audit for events of any size.  Our experienced team can evaluate every element of your event’s impact on the environment, supplying you with quantifiable data at a professionally recognised standard.  This data is then used to highlight problem areas and create an Environmental Management System (EMS).  The data also has the potential to be used year on year, helping to develop a continuing environmental plan to move your event towards complete sustainability.  The audit conforms to standard BS8901, a newly published government initiative that has been designed specifically for planning and managing a sustainable event.

The audit will highlight any potential environmental problems your event may cause and the EMS will offer solutions as to how to limit those problems.  If it is your onsite carbon footprint you are concerned with or the amount of rubbish being generated, we can show you where you are going wrong and offer you the solution.  When the specific elements of your event have been evaluated, we supply a customised plan detailing exactly what needs to be done to reduce your environmental impact, and how to implement it.  If you need assistance in the onsite implementation of the EMS, with our huge database of contacts we are in a unique position to our help with this area.

Why have an Environmental Audit?

There are several benefits from completing an environmental audit.  The initial outlay for the service can be offset against the savings made by implementing the plan.  By involving key production personnel and implementing the EMS at the planning stages you can only positively enhance your event.

Being confident in your events’ environmental ethics is a fantastic selling point and in today’s environmentally concerned climate, having a working, effective environmental protection plan SELLS TICKETS.  This is also the case in attracting potential sponsors and media interest.

As the country moves towards sustainability as a way of life, local councils are now very keen to be seen involved with events that take a positive attitude towards limiting their environmental impact.  As the audit conforms with standard BS8901 councils are much happier granting public performance licences, and will also circulate your event with other councils as an example of how to put on environmentally conscious events.

Creating an effective EMS will help increase the overall ambiance of the event.  By having appropriate systems in place to help deal with the aesthetic of your site, you will increase audience satisfaction.
