Brighton & Hove Children's Festival

Monday, 12 April, 2010 - Sunday, 18 April, 2010

From 12 – 18 April 2010 Brighton & Hove Children’s Festival returns for its fourth year to transform the city. The festival offers free and accessible opportunities for children to participate and enjoy.

This year JourneyOn, the council’s sustainable transport campaign, will be taking part in the Children’s Festival on Tuesday 13 April. We will be transforming Jubilee Street into Bike Alley so that children and their parents can have some ‘wheelie’ good fun! Have you ever tried the egg and spoon race on a bike? How about having a go at the limbo on two wheels? Parents and children can team up for a Patch the Puncture competition and win a set of bike lights, and the Children’s Bike Dr will be on hand to check your bike over. There will also be a relaxed and safe area for parents and toddlers to try out bike seats and trailers.

In Jubilee Square there will be a number of activities including our epic virtual bicycle ride to infinity and beyond - Bike to the Future 2. Children will climb into the saddle on special static bikes, pedal hard to watch the film and who knows where they will end up!

Children will also be able to team up and play with a Nintendo DS powered purely by bicycle power. If your team mate stops cycling, the Nintendo DS will stop working!

And finally there will be a story teller enchanting listeners with fantastical cycle stories, and a workshop to bedazzle your bike. Create fun, high visibility, cycling accessories that help you stay safe on the roads.
